AO: The Plank

Conditions: High 60s and perfect

Well after yesterday’s unexpected rocket launch during the beatdown, I wasn’t expecting much when I got to the AO. As I was stretching and watching Boxcar, Drifter, Candy Cane, and Castaway finish their pre-runs, I think it was Headgear that pointed out today’s unexpected interstellar craziness… a total lunar eclipse aka a blood moon! As the time ticked down, we had a solid 8 for the beatdown today, not yesterday’s 16, but this was a lean mean crew that was ready to get after it and I knew that I could push a little more.

  • 5 Burpees OYO (throwback to yesterday)
  • 20 TTT IC
  • 20 Windmills IC

Track Warmup:

During the 1stFChallenge, I started incorporating a PT Run to help me complete the merkins, squats, and bbsu while still getting in my 5k run. But since I wanted to do more than just that today, we will do a shortened version of it. 4 rounds of the following:

  • 25 x Merkins
  • 25 x Squats
  • 25 x BBSU
  • 1 x 400m Lap

Mosey to the block pile, grab a block and meet me on the goal line

Field Work: 

Hearing the complaints about Candy Cane’s arm fest got me intrigued, so I read his BB to find out that he basically did the same thing that I did at the Plank a month ago… so we’ll do a little bit of that again

  • 5 curls starting at the goal line, rifle carry ten yards, 5 curls, continue down the field (100 yds)
  • Time for a breather… mosey to the goal line and back (200 yds)
  • 2 Tricep extension at the goal line, rifle carry ten yards, 2 tricep extension, continue down the field (100 yds)

Partner work: 

Everybody partner up for some for a modified DORA.


  • Partner 1 – Calf Raises
  • Partner 2 – Run to the 50 yd line and back


  • Partner 1 – Mountain Climbers (RL only)
  • Partner 2 – Bear crawl to the 10 yd line and back

Everybody blocks back to the pile and meet on the field

  • Rubber – Plank elbow stretch thing that he learned in yoga x 5 IC
  • Castaway – Pretzel Crunch x 10IC each side
  • Candy Cane – 1 min low hold plank

Right before wrapping up, I did notice that I had 1.86 miles tracked on my watch… shout out to the PAX that joined me for a nice little cool down lap to get over 2 miles #Accelerate
