Bridge Work

Bridge Work

Workout Date:

09/01/2020

QIC:

Texas Ranger

PAX:

Rubber, Buffet, Tiny Dancer, Castaway, Texas Ranger (YHC)

The Thang:

AO: Village

Conditions: 80s and 10000% Humidity

It’s felt like forever since I have been to the Village. With a Catapult VQ, Qing at other AOs, and then being out of town for a bit, it had been about 2 weeks since I had posted at the Village (I know, I Know… #BestAOQ). But the fellas have been getting after it in my absence. YHC has been picking up some nagging injuries since I’ve started to up my running a little more, but I woke up early today to stretch and felt alright, so I thought I could maybe use this Q to get a little more running in, since I’ve been slacking in the past week. When you want to get some running in at the Village, you basically have to take your weinke on the road and head left towards the beach or right towards the bridge. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do yet, so I figured that I would just let inspiration strike and decide on the fly.

Got to the AO to see the new Village stalwarts #Castaway and #TinyDancer already in the lot with a car propping open the gate. Parked my car and noticed another familiar parked car in the lot… could that be?? Wait, I think it is… its Buffet! Always great to have Buffet back in the mix.

1 minute warning

Rubber came in hot right as we were about to get started.

Disclaimer given as well as the warning that I would be making this up on the fly as work/life has been hectic and I haven’t had much time to put something together.

The Thang:

Got to the gate and the bridge was calling, so we hung a right. Ran across 17 to the first light pole past the Del Webb sign. Told the PAX to stop at the light and they knew that it was about to go down. Pretty sure it was at this point that Tiny Dancer said “It better not be bear crawls”

Bear Crawl from light pole to light pole (approx. 125ft), 5 burpees, plank on the 6

#RubberSpecial – slow double pump lunges without losing your balance to the next light pole, 10 merkins, plank on the 6

Mosey to the stop sign

20 BBSU OYO (killer for Castaway since he had just completed Week 1 of the IPC yesterday)

Got to the base of the Intracoastal Waterway bridge and I laid out the plan for our #BridgeWork

Round 3: 150 LBCs, run up to the 50m mark and back, plank on the 6

Mosey back to the trailhead by the YMCA

Moleskin:

Condolences to Rubber and his family on the death of his father yesterday after the workout. Keep him and his family in your prayers. Great to have Buffet back out in the gloom, the guy is still a beast and made it look easy. Finally convinced Tiny Dancer to have a VQ at the Village! So get ready, he said he’s bringing the pain on Sep. 15th! Props to Castaway for coming out a day after completing the IPC and still pushing hard, despite the soreness.

As always, an honor to lead.
