The Thang:

Conditions
Muggy – High 70s

Put a call out for bags over 70+ lbs.  Most PAX have a 40.  A lot have a 60 (some only fill it to 40 tho).   A few have an 80 and/or 100.  And there’s one at 123 – can’t recall if there is another.  Anyhow, I wrote a plan to do some stuff with heavy bags.  Not having lifted the 123 in a while – wow.  It’s heavy!  Cleaning that into the back of the truck is a workout.  Anyhow, apparently there was a  lot of FEAR as the #EM channel was awfully quiet and the numbers were low.  But with 5 studs showing up, here is what we did after a warning of time, and then that V was late, and then a quick disclaimer…we also got to see ERC and meet Toucan Sam – who didn’t wanna ruck, but did get in a blistering run from the blurs we saw on the bridge.

We grabbed the 90+, the 80+, and we had to grab Bling’s 70 or we never would have heard the end of his 20-30 minute struggle to add weight and then zip it up.

So with the heavier bags, we did 2 man farmer carries until we got to the base of the other side, alternating sides as needed.  The 70 lber was carried in standard fashion.  We then proceeded to alternate 2 man OH carry/hold as we walked up and over the bridge with farmer’s carrying as well.  Heartrate straight off the charts for all.  We tried to keep the heights similar so Valvano didn’t have Headgear dangling by the end of a bag.  We’d go 1 arm, stop and switch to the other, and then go to farmer carry, switch hands while moving, stop and regroup for OH, etc etc.  The 70 alternated PAX and followed behind.  Good test of endurance, strength, and mental fortitude.  That’s a lot of weight to carry OH walking uphill in hot humid weather getting blinded by LED headlights!

Once at the 0m line on the other end, we dropped everything to catch our breath, took a quick recovery walk and got back to our equipment.

Bling started freaking out about making it back in time since it did take a while getting over.  So YHC modified the plan a bit, and then had to add more stuff in to make up time.

Ruck on
10 calf raises and ruck mosey to 100m line and back

Ruck the 3 heavy bags normally back taking turns

COT
Count-O-Rama – 6 (5 of us ruckers and 1 runner/Iron Man trainee)
Name-O-Rama
Prayer requests BC’s mom, V’s dad, Manziel’s dad, unspoken

BOM by YHC
Gotta say – SO AWESOME that for the last few weeks men have been gathering in the BOM and putting hands on each other and aren’t living in fear of everything the government tries to shove down our throats.  Be smart, do your own research, use your head, TRUST GOD!

Moleskin
– Been a while since we have slung anything other than some 60’s.  Felt good.  Guys are all beasts.  Soto weighs 160 maybe and cranks the 90+lber with his little “cross the border shuffle” he is famous for.
– Bling is probably already emptying his bag as he reads this.
– BC went from his 40lb 60 straight to these huge bags and crushed em
– Valvano, who is at least 10 years younger than the rest of the crew, keeps training for anything and everything….leave us old guys alone!!  LOL.  Go train with Toucan for the Iron Man!

Announcements
– AUGUST 14 – HUGE CONVERGENCE – Nant’an Handoff!!!!!  Be there!!  A whole new Exec Board is coming – so a lot of exciting things on the horizon after a great run by Brown Bag and his exec board these last almost 2 years!!!

Aye!
