Hour Long Penguin Huddle

Knowing that the Monday WaveRucker has been slow to takeoff, YHC was excited to see some HCs roll in on Slack over the weekend and even the chance of an FNG. The FNG submitted the typical excuse Saturday night, that 0500 was too early though, so we rolled with our solid group of 4 ruckers. It’s cold in the GrandStrand these days and the wind through Doug Shaw always seems to cut a little deeper, but after the lights came on and a quick disclaimer was given, we headed out around the track and not into a penguin huddle despite Hoser’s pleads.
Warmup
1 lap around the track with rucks
1 lap around divided into 4 sections (front ruck, ruck overhead, ruck bearhug, ruck on back)
Grab sandbags and meet at midfield. We would do a 4 corners workout using the 30 yard markers as the corners.
Round 1 (with rucks):
Reverse drag SB to 1st corner, 10 ruck curls, one arm drag SB back to midfield, 5 ruck merkins
Reverse drag SB to 2nd corner, 10 ruck OH press, one arm drag SB back to midfield, 5 ruck merkins
Reverse drag SB to 3rd corner, 10 ruck high rows, one arm farmer carry SB back to midfield, 5 ruck merkins
Reverse drag SB to 4th corner, 10 ruck tricep extensions, one arm farmer carry SB back to midfield, 5 ruck merkins
Round 2 (with rucks):
Ruck to 1st corner, 20 Flutter Kicks IC with ruck overhead, front carry ruck back to midfield, 10 SB cleans
Ruck to 2nd corner, 15 American Hammers IC with ruck , front carry ruck back to midfield, 10 SB cleans
Ruck to 3rd corner, 20 Mountain Climbers IC with ruck, front carry ruck back to midfield, 10 SB cleans
Ruck to 4th corner, 20 LBCs OYO with ruck, front carry ruck back to midfield, 10 SB cleans
1 lap around the track with rucks
1 lap around divided into 4 sections (front ruck, ruck overhead, ruck bearhug, ruck on back)
Repeat Rounds 1 & 2
3 minutes left and we were all fairly smoked, so rucks and SBs were dropped for a 100m cooldown walk

When YHC was devising this Q I wanted to get back to the early days of WaveRucker when we were constantly training for events. What I failed to consider was just how long ago those days were. A few modifications to rep counts were made on the fly, but I think we all left sufficiently smoked to start the week. After an hour of continuous contact and reps with rucks and sandbags, I’m feeling it in just about every muscle. Of course the fellowship and laughs with the WaveRucker crew always makes it enjoyable.
