One Week feels like One Month

It’s hard to believe that the the Covid 19 Protocol has only been in place for 1 week! Life is definitely different. The true statistics of this virus are not even evident and YHC is beginning to hear rumblings about the “2nd & 3rd Wave” of infections that might happen. All of the medical modeling explains the worse-case scenario and all the protocols have been put in place to stop or level out the infection curve based on those models.

Did anyone do an economic worse-case scenario model? Did they think containment of the virus would occur in a bubble without unpredictable ripple effects on the rest of society and our nations? Would it have been far less costly and far more efficient and affective to isolate those who have the virus and all of those people who came in contact with that infected person instead of shutting down ½ or ¾ of all businesses and all schools? Does putting someone out of work in Arkansas really save anyone in New Jersey?

It’s only been one week and people are antsy. The Governor of New York is appalled by the number of people going to Central Park and breaking social distancing standards. Beaches had to be shut down because Spring Breakers didn’t care about the virus and staying 6-10 feet away from other revelers definitely was not part of the equations (just the opposite).

Stopping the virus seems as futile as catching the wind. Why? Because viruses do what they do and people are people. Maybe we collectively will once again realize that we are not in control, He is! It doesn’t mean we should be foolish, however, we cannot live in fear, either. What we all need is a big dose of the 3rd F (Faith)!! Love God, love your wife, love your children, and love your neighbors. Have Faith. There is nothing new under the sun!

With that said, excuse me while I step off my soapbox!

Last night YHC HC’d to Single Barrel and Brown Bag at separate times. Single Barrel wanted to begin at 5:30, sounds good! Brown Bag wanted to start at 6:00, sounds even better! YHC figured he would begin with Single Barrel and work all the way through the end of Brown Bag’s Beatdown! B.I.G. Monday for 1.5 hours of pain!!

To get things started, Single Barrel followed YHC out of Plantation Lakes straight to the AO. Greetings were made from a distance as we took our positions on opposite sides of the parking lot.

Announcements: Dragon Boat Races have been postponed until Sept 19,2020. That gives all PAX plenty of time to mark your calendars & HC! High Noon Virtual BOM happens every weekday (Check Slack for the Link). All Region AOs remain officially closed. Solo WOD are strongly encouraged to keep each one of us physically & mentally sharp!
