The Q at The Village was “Open” all day yesterday. Normally an “Open” Q doesn’t survive long, however, Rubber really brought the pain yesterday and delivered a non-stop Beatdown at BombSquad! If a PAX needed a recovery day, YHC understands! Besides recovering from Rubber’s Beatdown, The Catapult has been consistently putting up double digit numbers each Tuesday and Warthog is white hot!! YHC wanted to take the Q immediately but figured I’d let some of the other PAX have the opportunity to lead. At about 8 PM, YHC was surprised that the Q remained “Open”, so YHC took it!! As soon as YHC committed, a plan was formulated. YHC thought his weinke would be fresh & didn’t believe it had been done before, but who knows, there’s over a thousand BackBlast archived on F3GrandStrand Site! (#CheckItOut)

YHC arrived to wide open gate at The Village and placed a few cones across the main parking lot. Shortly after arriving, Brown Bag pulled into the lot. YHC, “You brought the tunes, right?”  ” Sure did, I even brought back up speakers just in case”, Brown Bag. Next to arrive was Kitten on foot via Hulkamania, then Hottub, then Humpback.  Rubber came in right on time as we finished up SSHs! 6 HIM were ready to get to work!

The THANG:

Last Man Standing

Men paired up to competed head to head in a varied of exercises. If a PAX won his heat then he stayed in the competition. If a PAX lost the heat then he did a consolation exercise AMRAP until the competition was finished.

Competition #1: Bearcrawl

Consolation Exercise #1: Block Curls

Rubber blew through the competition and looked like he would easily sail to victory, however, after winning the semi-finals he was pitted against Hottub. Hottub was well rested, while Rubber had to compete in back to back heats. Rubber & Hottub gave everything they had, Hottub dove over the finish line and straight in to the sidewalk for a dramatic finish!!

Last Man Standing #1 – HOTTUB

Competition #2: Overhead Block Press

Consolation Exercise #2: Run 1 lap around main parking lot

For this competition all PAX circled up. Each PAX in turn called out 10 reps, then the next PAX called 10 reps. If any PAX missed a rep or otherwise fell behind in the cadence he was out of the competition. All PAX seemed evenly matched until we hit forty reps then the PAX fell away quickly and it was down to only two, Rubber & Humpback. In the end, Humpback out lasted Rubber (#AlwaysTheBridesmaid). Humpback and Rubber both took a victory lap together around the main lot.

Last Man Standing #2 – HUMPBACK

Competition #3: Crabwalk

Consolation Exercise #3: Block Curls

This competition was another nail biter, right down to the finish! Rubber, YHC, and Humpback were early casualties, while Hottub, Kitten, and Brown Bag remained as strong contenders. The semi-finals applied the scientific method to the race, one PAX would crabwalk forward and the other PAX would crabwalk backwards to see which way was fastest. At the turn around, the PAX would do the opposite crabwalk to the finish. Clearly crab-walking in reverse (backwards) is faster then forward crabwalks. Brown Bag did crabwalk in reverse to the halfway mark and was approximately 2 lengths ahead of Kitten but at the turn Kitten crab-walked in reverse and won the heat by 2 lengths. The final heat involved Hottub and Kitten. Kitten was the victor!!

Last Man Standing #3 – KITTEN

Competition #4: Merkins

Consolation Exercise #4: Run 1 lap around main parking lot

PAX circled up again. Each PAX led 10 reps. If any PAX fell behind and/or had poor form, they were out of the competition. Kitten met his match in this competition and was running his lap after the 1st set of 10 reps. Hottub could not complete his rep count at the 40 merkin mark and was out after calling only 6 reps. Humpback & YHC remained, however, YHC held plank while Humpback finished Hottub’s rep count for a decisive victory!!

Last Man Standing #4 – HUMPBACK

Competition #5: Pull ups

Consolation Exercise #5: Flutter Kicks

This was a fun competition in which each PAX had to outlast his competition while doing pull-ups on the monkey bars facing your foe. Rubber was the clear favorite but Brown Bag had a trick up his sleeve! During the semi-finals, Brown Bag out lasted YHC by slowing down his rep count and allowing YHC to burn out early, however, then Brown Bag was right back in to it for the finals. The jig was up and Rubber had no problem slowing down his cadence, too. In the end Rubber outlasted Brown Bag

Last Man Standing #5 – RUBBER

Competition #6: Sprint the length of main parking lot & back

Consolation Exercise #6: Block Curls

The competitive juices were flowing for this competition as each heat was darn near a photo finish each time! Kitten edged out YHC in the 1st heat; Rubber beat Hottub by a step; and Brown Bag had a little more in the tank then Humpback. Everyone pushed each other hard!! This time the final included Brown Bag v. Kitten. Kitten just came off of a dramatic finish against Rubber and needed to line up again immediately. In the end Brown Bag out hustled Kitten!!

Last Man Standing #6 – BROWN BAG

Competition #7: Blockees

Consolation Exercise #7: 2 laps around main lot. . . 1st lap was without the block, 2nd lap was with the block

This was the big finish!! Everyone kept pace for the first 4 rounds but when it got to Rubber, he immediately went into his rep count. No other PAX was ready for the immediate rep count and all fell behind Rubber!! #WellPlayedSir

Last Man Standing #7 – RUBBER

Mary – 20 Flutter Kicks IC
