The Thang:

I’ve been with F3 for almost a year and a half and maybe Q-ed 15 times, and today was my first rain Q. 5:11 came around and the list of Pax included…. Me. Thankfully, 3 other dedicated souls rolled in. Thanks to Tandem, O’douls and First Base for the support and camaraderie.

When you’re under the awning at Catapult you feel a little limited in what you can Q but you shouldn’t. I’ve been to 3 or 4 and they’re always just as challenging as open air beatdowns.

We did a fast paced circuit with minimal rest at each column, consisting of burpees, Iron Maiden Crosses, jump lunges, 20 OHP, 40 pretzel crunches, 25 squats, 25 curls, 25 Dry Docks, 15 HTH, 25 merkins. Soundtrack consisted of a eclectic mix of Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Pearl Jam, Chili Peppers, AC/DC.

Ominously situated at the end of the circuit was the giant, underutilized Catapult/Bombsquad Tire. With 2 10lb sledgehammers.

We did 2 circuits consisting of the exercises above, then 2 rounds of Indian Lunges (3 guys lunge, one guy bear crawls to the front). After that we strolled over to the Tire.

While 2 Pax beat the shit out of the tire with 10lb sledgehammers for 20 reps (10 each arm), partner held plank. This was all done to the soothing sounds of Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. We did 3 rounds, and group 2 finished their reps just as Peter wrapped up. Timing was uncanny. The plank portion was pretty difficult. I think/hope this is one of the exercises where weird muscles are sore the next day.

We did a lap (which I cut in half to return the giant ass tire). Met back at the awning for core. 3 guys were doing LBCs when I got back, to which we added Outlaws, BBSU, and partnered leg throws.

It’s not easy posting in the rain so again, I’m thankful to the guys who showed up and showed out.
