The Thang:

Conditions
Whoa it was cold.  27 on the car gauge, with a windchill of 21.  But, we ruck.

So we all had some fun yesterday on slack.  Studebaker: “Who’s Q’ing WaveRucker tomorrow”.  Hoser: “You”.  Change made to Q sheet.  Daily tweet sent listed Studebaker.  Hmm….well, that led to a whole slew of other chatter, which you can read in the slack channel if you so desire.

We talked about having the beatdown in the parking deck due to extreme cold and a lot of our PAX still nursing coughs/colds/bursitis/what have you.  YHC said, it’s easy to have a beatdown in a parking deck, levels, ideas, etc.  And of course, this had Studebaker saying basically “goody, OneCall is on Q”.  Glad to do it (#3InARow).  Bling threw out an idea of 5 PAX splitting the Q with a 15-20 minute WOD with a PAX taking each level of the deck.  No takers.  Silence.  Crickets.  Hmm……So I wrote a #weinke.  Not sure who would show as we didn’t get the HC’s like we did last week, but no worries.  I loaded sandbags (40, 46, 60, 80) and an extra ruck in the car.

Morning came; picked up Bling #Carpool – Bling: “What are we doing? We are so stupid”  YHC: “Yep”
Mutual grins – let’s do this

Drove by Forbus parking lot to be sure nobody missed the memo of the parking deck.  Saw no cars.  Went to parking deck.  Parked in what appeared to be a spot specifically reserved for me.  #Nant’anPrivileges?  Either that or it was an illegal spot.  But is it really illegal at 0430?

Saw Hoser’s FD PU up the ramp.  It was close to starting time and we didn’t see anybody else.  Weird.  Checked phone.  Weedeater was out.  Flu took her out he said.  Penelope = Flu.  Hmm.  Flop drove in.  Nobody else.  Shocked really that Studebaker wasn’t there after all the talk yesterday and him posting pictures of his rucks.  Maybe he was just lining them on the bed for the picture, and then decided to leave them there looking pretty.  He even used the right instagram filter!

So the 4 of us – YHC, Bling, Hoser, and Flop went around the corner to the lowest point of parking deck – saw 2 early FiA ladies kicking it and went to get started.  And then boom, 4 other men came around the corner.  Billboard was easy to spot – 6’2″, 240 solid, wearing a weight vest and a ski mask like a robber.  Rousey, strutting/limping.  Bluegrass – a new rucker, but a beast and seemingly always in something blue.  And Whittle – our newest man joining from Conway!

Alright! Let’s roll.

Disclaimer

COP – without rucks to loosen up a bit and get the blood flowing
SSH x 25 IC
IW x 20 IC
LBAC forward x 20 IC
LBAC backward x 20 IC
Burpees x 10 OYO

The THANG
We farmer carried our rucks across this level to the wall.  Switching hands halfway
Rucks on front
Wall sit – 2 minutes
Front ruck squats x 20 OYO
Rucks on regular squats x 20 OYO
Here, Billboard grabbed YHC’s extra ruck as he would need it for the exercises to come.  So, yeah, a 30 lb ruck and whatever his vest has.  20-40 I think.
Lunge walk to where the deck starts to incline.
After the wall sit, squats, and this lunging, legs were burning.
So we turned left and rucked it off some by going out and across the street and back
Stopping for a mental challenge as YHC asked the PAX what was the next move on the giant chess board outside
Bling nailed it with Queen to Rook 2
Back inside, and let’s finish that lunge walk all the way up the incline to the top of that level

Rucks off
Upright rows with em x 20 OYO
Front lifts arms straight with em x 20 OYO
YHC called for side hold out, but couldn’t demonstrate that as my shoulders were hurting so modified to 10 OYO each arm side lateral raises
Rucks on – 20 Merkins OYO
To loosen the shoulders, we rucked back down the 2 levels, again saying hi to FiA – this time there were 4 and rucked back up to where we were

Bear crawl to the speed bump
Ruck back down and back up to the speed bump
“Chunk it” – we are gonna get to the top of that level by bear crawling, but break it up – to the next speed bump, then to the top.  Sometimes doing big tasks in smaller sections helps!  #MentalGames
At top of this level, and pretty much every level and time there was a 6, we did wall sits to destroy the legs.

Rucks off
OH hold x 2 minutes
Plank hold x 2 minutes
OH hold x 1 minute
Plank hold x 1 minute
Ruck back down and back up to this point

Rucks on front
Crab walk to the silver SUV
Then ruck to the top of that level with rucks on front
Keeping rucks on front, 15 Good mornings
Rucks off – Curls x 15 OYO
Ruck back down and back up to this point

It was cold, muscles were tight, and we had some newer guys.  So YHC asked if everyone wanted to do fireman’s carries.  Didn’t get much enthusiasm and I didn’t want anyone pulling anything, so we each grabbed a partner and 3-legged walked up to the top of this level.  #KindaWeirdKindaNice
Look at the #SuperBloodBlueMoon
Wall sits
Rucks off; on your 6; rucks up – Flutters x 20 IC
Hold 6″ for 1 minute
Tighten up circle
Ring of fire with leg raises and holding rucks up x 10 rounds
20 Ruck presses in single count
Again:
Ring of fire with leg raises and holding rucks up x 10 rounds
20 Ruck presses in single count

We were on the top level.  It was crisp and clear and the moon was amazing.  Let’s stay up here a while.
Since we didn’t do fireman carries.  Let’s do 3 man carries. 4 to a group.  At 205, I was the light man in the group of Bling, Hoser, and Billboard.  So I got to chill while they walked me around.
Bluegrass got the same treatment as the lighter guy in his group.
Partner up
Wheelbarrows to white SUV with 1 PAX
Then reverse for the way back
OH hold walk to the far wall
Wall sit
Cliffhanger merkins x 20 each PAX in the pair and then switch
Wall sit with OH hold
Suggestion made to also include cliffhanger merkins, but YHC couldn’t figure out how to make that work
10 presses while in wall sit

Back to the stairwell.  Go down.  We then wall sat in the lower bowels of the stairwell.  And talked a bit.  Kept the wall sit to a minute.  Then we walked up the stairs.  Then we rucked down the whole deck to my car.
During this time, Bling, Hoser, and YHC were discussing a plan for the last 12ish minutes.  Thanks for the awesome idea dudes!
So what we did to finish and pretty much kill everyone except Bluegrass apparently –
Bling and Hoser – 80 lb sandbag
YHC and Billboard – 60 lb sandbag
Bluegrass and Rousey – 46 lb sandbag
Flop and Whittle – 40 lb sandbag
1 man would take sandbag and go up the stairs while the other in the group moseyed up the entire parking deck; plank on your partner
The man that moseyed would then take the sandbag and go down and up the stairs – waiting at the top
The man that went up the stairs first would mosey to the bottom and then back to the top; then grab the sandbag and go down the stairs while partner then moseyed down the parking deck
All to meet back at the car

Educational notes:  Wednesday’s super blue blood moon was an excuse for skywatchers everywhere to break out their telescopes and gaze upwards. The rare event, which hasn’t happened since 1866, also coincided with a total lunar eclipse.

A blue moon is when two full moons occur within one calendar month. This occurs once every 2.7 years, according to space.com.  A moon is called a supermoon when it is close to the Earth in its orbit and appears larger and brighter than usual, NPR reports. The January 31 supermoon is the moon’s closest pass to Earth this year, and thus appears up to 30 percent brighter and up to 14 percent larger than normal.  A blood moon is the phenomenon whereby the moon in total eclipse appears reddish in color as it is illuminated by sunlight filtered and refracted by the earth’s atmosphere.
