Two FNGs and a Kotter walk into a parking lot…

Workout Date:

Kitten, Invisible Man (Al, FNG), Frank (FNG who left before we could name him), Scout (Kotter)

The Thang:

It was a nice cool morning for a workout at the PitStop when I pulled in around 7:15. When I went into the shelter looking for PAX, the resident running the desk (Al) said he has been wanting to come to a workout, but needed a volunteer to sub for him while he exercised. About a minute later, he talked another guy into watching the desk so he could work out. About a minute after that, another resident (Frank) came through the hallway and said he wanted to give it a try.

At 7:29, with three of us present, I gave the one minute warning, followed by the disclaimer at 7:30. Our COP consisted of:

20 ssh ic

20 ttt ic

20 windmills ic

20 arm circles ic (forward and reverse)

22 merkins

We attempted to do an Indian run, but my instructions were apparently really confusing, because we looked like we were running basketball figure-8 drills without a basketball. I modified on the fly into short mosey part-way down Osceola and back to the shelter. This is where we lost Frank… kind of. He circled back to the shelter and went inside. Throughout the rest of the workout, he would periodically come back out to tell us we were doing push-ups wrong or that we needed to work harder before going back inside.

Al and I continued doing exercises together. And he did awesome! First, we did 11s with squats and merkins, bear crawling one direction and lunge-walking the other direction.

Next, we did 11s with dips and big boys, with a mosey in between each end.

We closed things out with two rounds of tabata: first with flutter kicks and next with mountain climbers. At the end of the flutter kicks, our Kotter (Scout) came out and joined us for his obligatory cameo.

The three of us closed things out by naming our remaining FNG. Al shared, among other things, that he really likes wearing camo. Since you can’t see people in the woods well if they’re wearing camo, and since no one offered a better suggestion, our FNG end up with the nickname “Invisible Man.”

We ended with prayer for Invisible Man’s mom, who has stage 4 cancer.

Reminder: Papyrus’ VQ is this coming Saturday at the PitStop. Please come out and support him if you can!
