Another AWESOME Wednesday and another AWESOME #WaveRucker.  1.5 hours of pure work.  We get stronger and fitter and we get to learn about American heroes, American history, etc., along with amazing fellowship!  Searching for some cool March 20 stuff that can be used to formulate a plan…lots of things to find, and really anything can turn into a ruck workout…but found some neat information as follows with the beatdown coming from some stats (as always, information is from the internet, so may or may not be 100% accurate)…

On March 20, 1922, the 11,500-ton Langley (CV-1) was commissioned into the U.S. Navy as America’s first aircraft carrier.  Langley was not regarded as a beautiful ship.  Under the leadership of Commander Kenneth Whiting, Langley served as a base for reconnaissance aircraft and a laboratory to develop new procedures for launching and recovering planes, such as the use of cross-deck arresting wires to brake incoming aircraft.  Langley was named after Samuel Pierpont Langley, an American aviation pioneer.

Langley fought in World War II, and on 27 February 1942, she was attacked by nine twin-engine Japanese bombers of the Japanese 21st and 23rd Naval Air Flotillas and so badly damaged that she had to be scuttled by her escorts.

11,500-tons is 2.1780303 miles in feet
We will ruck this distance (2.18 miles) along with 3 sandbags (40, 50, 60) being shared every 1/2 mile.

Langley’s flight deck was 533 feet long and 64 feet wide with an open-sided hanger deck, inspiring the nickname “the Old Covered Wagon.”

533 feet long
5 exercises; 33 reps each (see how really anything can be turned into a ruck workout)
Merkins
Lunges
BBSU’s
Flutters IC with ruck press
High Pulls

64 feet wide
WHAT?!?!  Robbie Miller WOD!!!  6 reps for 4 exercises!!!

We did 4 rounds of this based on time allocated (20 minutes)

USS Langley (CV-1) was also the US Navy’s first turbo-electric-powered ship – let’s see if we can TURBO a mile ruck

– Another strong Wednesday with strong #HIM.  Great work by all pushing through everything!!!!
– We found Barton Circle….kinda seedy actually.
– Lombardi gave Geno a box to mail his ruck to SCARS.  I guess there are no boxes in the multiple warehouses that Geno has with golf cart parts everywhere.  Wonder how they get delivered?  It was interesting to note that Lombardi indicated that box came from slot # B6 in his trunk and that Geno better use it!
– Bling is always complaining about how weak he is and how tired…whatever dude…smoking everything as usual!!!!

Announcements
