The Thang:

It was a Tuesday morning and YHC saw that no one had claimed to glorious right to Q Waverucker, so not wanting to let a good thing slip by, YHC grabbed the chance. Now came the hard part of coming up with a beatdown.

Like most of you, I’ve seen the Nike ads and all outrage from it. And that got YHC thinking about what true sacrifice means. Also with the start of September that means we are only days away from the GoRuck Mogadishu Mile Challenge, where we will honor the 18 U.S. Service Men that paid the ultimate sacrifice during October 3-4 1993. And YHC wanted to bring both of these together this morning.

YHC sent out a message to kindly ask pax coming to Waverucker to bring a sandbag with them. We ended up with 6 pax and 4 sand bags. O well time to adapt. 1 minute warning given. Pax were told that the end point was Warbird Park and we had 30 minutes to travel the 1.25 miles. Coupons carried with us were 3 60# sandbags and 1 40# sandbag. Pax were told to switch coupons when needed.

We arrived at Warbird Park in 20 minutes, great push by all. Snadbags were lined up in front of the Warthog and pax were given a 5 minute rest to stretch and hydrate.

After the 5 minutes the pax were informed what the beatdown was going to be.

The Thang

Elevator style workout. Start at 10 reps and work your way down with each set. The exercises were:

60# Sandbag Rows

60# Sandbag Deadlifts

40# Sandbag Curls

60# Sandbag Up and Overs (Overhead Press)

After each set we would ranger shuffle a lap which was about 1/10 of a mile.

After the we finished the 5 set and run, YHC shared some trivia about the Battle of Mogadishu. Then YHC shared his beliefs and feelings about sacrifice and offered the pax a little perspective and motivation.

We rucked back up and shouldered the coupons and headed back towards the flag. We arrived back at the AO in 23 minutes. Even with tiered legs we still made it under the standard. Great work by all.

We circled up and YHC closed us in prayer.
