YHC was looking forward to my Q all month. An on the eve of the occasion worked out a beatdown on paper that I was sure would invigorate and challenge the PAX. I had every detail accounted for except one, the fact at Saturdays start on the Hour not at 15 minutes passed the hour. I got up this morning with plenty of time to spare. I paced myself as dressed (3 layer minimum) and primped. As I looked down at my watch which read 5:50am, I thought that I had 24 minutes before the one minute warning. I could just relax and take my time getting to the AO. Then in a split second, it dawned on me that I was LATE!

I jumped in my car after a hood-slide and headed towards BombSquad at a breakneck pace knowing that if the Smokies were hiding in wait along CF Blvd I’d have to outrun & outsmart them like the Dukes of Hazzard! I envisioned jumping a dirt ramp over the entry pond to arrive at my designated handicapped parking spot just as the bell struck 6am!!!

I know I may be ‘just a good ol’ boy, notta meaning no harm’ but I also know I ain’t lookin’ for a ticket, either! So I arrived fashionably late to my own Q, like the Belle of the Ball!!

As I fumbled for my armband and my phone, Rousey was taking charge and leading the PAX in the warm-ups. I stepped out of my car & ran to the center of the COP while fearlessly fending off verbal flack from my fellow Pax.

COT: 20 SSH IC (per Rousey); 10 Burpees OYO for my tardiness; 15 Imperial Walkers IC; 15 TTT IC; 15 Windmills IC; 15 SSH IC; 25 Merkins IC; 15 LBAC IC; 15 LBAC in Reverse IC. . . so where along the way, I was able to activate Pandora for some AC/DC to set the mood for the remainder of today’s beatdown.

The PAX were instructed to mosey the Coupon Pile, retrieve a Cinder Block, and carry it over to the large Parking Lot for the main event.  . . but before we got on with it,YHC conducted a psychological test and  instructed the PAX to form 2 Groups: The “Studs and the Duds” . . . everyone hesitantly mulled around before forming the groups. Once the groups were formed, YHC announced that they are all “Studs” in my humble opinion and then it was on with the show!!

The THANG:

Over/Under

All Pax were instructed to run the “Big Loop” around the Church in under 4 minutes – failure was not an options!! . . .Everyone completed the Loop with time to spare. . . no rest . . .All Pax were instructed to run the “Big Loop” around the Church in under 3 minutes – failure was not an options!! But if you failed there would be consequences!  . . .Everyone completed the Loop under 3 minutes. . . .no rest . . . All Pax were instructed to run the “Big Loop” around the Church in under 2 minutes – failure was not an options!! (YHC did not time this loop . . .it was a psychological test to push everyone!! And everyone did great!!)

PAX were instructed to pair up & face each other to hold one anther accountable for the following exercises

50 Squats (proper form: buttock needs to touch the top of your upright block) within 2 minutes  . . . when everyone was finished, we sprinted the perimeter of the Large Parking Lot and finished back at the blocks for the next exercise.

50 Overhead Block Press under 2 minutes . . . Sprint the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Merkins under 2 minutes . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Lunges under 2 minutes . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Curls under 2 minutes  . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Carolina Dry Docks under 2 minutes . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Block Swings under 2 minutes . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Tricep Extensions under 2 minutes . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

50 Flutter Kicks IC under 2 minutes . . . run the perimeter of Large Parking Lot

Return the Blocks to the Coupon Pile

Mosey back to the Shovel Flag . . . time for 1 more psychological test . . . 2 Groups: “Studs & Duds” (I expected everyone to choose the “Stud” group based on the intensity of today’s beatdown!!). Although 2 groups were formed, I once again stated that they were all Studs and because they were all Studs we had one last thing to do . . .

Line up  . . . Run out the AO towards CF Blvd, north on the bike path, back into the AO and around the perimeter of  the entire AO  . . . finish at the Shovel Flag as time is called!
