A late night text from a fellow PAX changed my music choice to the Top Gun Soundtrack. The funny part about that last sentence is that the PAX who recommended it… fartsacked. I’m not going to mention any names, but maybe they got tied up by their ‘Laces’ and couldn’t get out of bed.
When I showed up, Flatliner was there warming up already doing a little shimmy and a little shake to get those legs of his loose. First Base was either there already or we pulled in at the same time, but none the less it was the 3 of us and then slowly 6 more PAX showed up, including SNIPS. He usually drives past us every morning to hit Warthog, but he got a little extra sleep today and showed up at the retirement AO. It was great to have him and I hope he comes back soon!
I made promises of no more than 5 reps for any exercise, but quickly broke that in the COP and later in the beatdown when I called an audible and we switched to a DORA type workout. It was a smoker though and I think the only regret anyone had was the all you got sprint race when our legs were still pretty “unwarmed up”.

COP:
All done in cadence x15: Hairy Rockettes, SSH, TTT, SSH, Imperial Walkers, LBAC F & R (I realized I hadn’t started my watch workout during these and left everyone hanging for a bit as I turned it on, need to close my rings!), Seal Claps
Beatdown:
Grabbed coupons and went to big lot.
Tried to tell PAX what the plan was but I guess it was a little confusing to some. Ran through the plan again and I think it was a little more clear. Without stopping, we were going to do one rep of each block exercise, then 2 reps of each, then 3, then 4, then 5 and plank when done. The exercises were:
1. Blockees or Block Merkins
2. Squats
3. Curls
4. OH Press
5. Triceps Extensions
6. Lunges (2 count)
After completing that circuit we lined up for an all out sprint. My hamstrings and ‘growin’ muscles quickly told me we hadn’t warmed up enough, but I pushed through and beat O’Douls by a nose (it was my nose though, so I beat him by quite a bit).
We rinsed and repeat and did the circuit again (1 Rep, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5, then plank):
1. Blockees or Block Merkins
2. Squats
3. Curls
4. OH Press
5. Triceps Extensions
6. Lunges (2 count)
After everyone finished, we lined up for an Indian Run around the entire AO.
When we got back to the blocks, I called an audible and we transitioned the same exercises into a DORA style beatdown. We got into groups of 3 and I instructed them that one PAX will do the exercise while the other 2 moseyed to the other end of the parking lot and back. When those 2 PAX got back, one would run again with whoever was doing the exercise and the other one would stay to complete the exercise. We did this for a few of the exercises and then because of time restraints, 2 PAX stayed and did the exercises while one ran. We did the following rep counts:
1. Blockees or Block Merkins x50
2. Squats x100
3. Curls x100
4. OH Press x100
5. Triceps Extensions x100
6. Lunges (2 count) x100
Time to rack the coupons.
We got back to the flag around 5:54am and had time for 2 MARY exercises. I leaned on the former AOQ and the the current AOQ: O’Douls called the Outlaw x15 and First Base called Boxcutters x15.

Announcements: Top Gun 2F
Prayers: Some spoken and some unspoken… I prayed us out as we focused on healing a broken country after the senseless acts the past couple weeks, especially the Robb Elementary School shooting.
Pikachu was at The Plank so it was a flatulence free morning at Catapult. We miss the big guy, and I’m sure his ass rippers don’t sound nearly as cool on the turf at Doug Shaw. Hopefully he makes an appearance soon...
Honored to lead!
Aye!

For those wondering why Kelly McGillis wasn’t in the new Top Gun…..
