The Thang:

Conditions: Rain, thunder, wind of biblical proportions… but at least in the mid-high 60s.  And in all fairness there was no lightning.

YHC awoke to the ruckus that was occurring outside and wondered how many PAX would show with the rain and wind relentlessly pounding.  Core principle #3 held outdoors rain or shine.  I post for the other guy.  And I was Qing.  I fired up the Subaru and made my way to the #TheVillage with sheets of rain making visibility as about as bad as my right knee.  I passed a lonely SUV poking along and then realized while going over the bridge (separating Grissom and International) that I still had 500lbs of One-Call’s KBs (clanking away) transforming my ride into a death machine.

YHC rolled into the AO parking lot… nope back up…YHC while gingerly driving his heavy laden ride attempted to enter the AO parking lot, but was met with a brand new gate at the entrance.  Dude!  The gate was complete with chain-link fence, pad lock and no trespassing signs.  YHC waited along the fence line when Sunshine rolled up.  I look at him; we look at the gate.  Should we climb it?  What happens if the PD show up and we try to talk our way out?  Rousey/Sunshine: “We know ‘Kitten’.” MBPD: “Who?  She works on 3rd Ave.”.  We decided to forgo the whole shooting match and Sunshine mentioned coffee.  I really wanted to workout, but OK.  Problem… no respectable coffee place was open.  So, no 1st F, no 2nd F…I said well lets pray.  And we did.  Sunshine who is obviously in great shape opted to meditate back at his house.  I decided to go to my nearby Planet Fitness and salvage a workout.

Have a short amount of time and want to get the biggest bang for your buck… then consider using tabata methodology.  Pick an exercise, preferably something that has compound movements like Burpees.  20 seconds of exercising as fast and hard as you can followed by 10 seconds of rest for a total of 8 sets.

YHC did the following tabata style:

  1. Alternating Shoulder Taps
  2. 45# Kettlebell Swing
  3. V ups using exercise ball
  4. Crab-cakes
  5. Assisted Pull-ups
  6. Merkins
  7. 12lb Slam-ball

Moleskin: Very strange morning in the gloom.  Enjoyed the quick fellowship with Sunshine and I have to say that he personifies a #HIM AOQ who leads by example showing up this morning given all of this mayhem.
