2 out of towners, an axe, and a sketchy truck

Workout Date:

06/20/2022

QIC:

Rousey (Respect and 3F CoQ)

PAX:

Rockingchair (2x Respect / DR from F3 Lexington, SC), Leprechaun (DR from F3 Columbia, SC), Beefsteak, Rubber, Jetah (2F Q), and QIC

The Thang:

Conditions: High 70s, low humidity, and of course dark at 0445 when YHC rolled into the Carolina Forest Community Church (CFCC) campus.

YHC / QIC took a #nevermissamonday Q at BombSquad (BS) where YHC was #EHd roughly 5 years ago! Not a whole lot of chatter on the BS slack channel the night before plus several Pax were using Elevation Monday as a training opportunity for the Blue Ridge Relay CSUAP, so YHC wasn’t sure of the numbers. Fortunately, those who showed up this morning were in for a treat! A you vs. you hero WOD known as the “Axe” that is used to plus up the famous “Murph” WOD, but can be used as a stand-alone (as we’d see this morning and Fergie and YHC experienced on Saturday at Warthog trying to motor through a few rounds).

YHC rolled into the BS AO 30 minutes early for a warmup pre-run and was greeted at the end by our first DR Pax (Rockingchair) who kindly moseyed a lap with YHC. 4 other Pax including our second DR Pax (Leprechaun) joined minutes before “go time”. Pre-workout #mumblechatter ensued, 1-minute warning, welcome to F3, mission, disclaimer, and then we got after it.

Warm Up:  An assortment of usual F3 GrandStrand (F3GS) exercises IC and OYO.

The Navy Seal Matthew Gene Axelson “the Axe” Hero WOD (large CFCC parking lot grabbing a block on the way):

  1. 800M run modified to 2 laps around the CFCC campus (reportedly 1200Ms)
  2. 25 Bodybuilders – Burpee w/ distinct Merkin and Plank Jack. But, we have a block pile at BS and we plused up to bodybuilder blockees!!!
  3. 25 4-ct. Flutter Kicks.
  4. 25 Double Leg raises.
  5. Aussie Pullups w/ weight vest modified to Curls (no pull up bar available).
  6. 25 Squats.
  7. 25 Merkins.
  8. 25 Heels to Heavens.
  9. 25 Hello Dollies.
  10. 25 Aussie Pullups w/ weight vest modified to Thrusters (no pull up bar available).
  11. 25 Merkins.
  12. 2 laps around the CFCC campus.

The goal for most of us was 1 round. Beefsteak (who pre-ran at least 10 miles) had to do 100 — lol! Rubber was not too far behind him and pointed out to YHC the white semi (w/o load) mysteriously parked in the large lot. He thought I had arranged a tractor pull! But we didn’t bother it during our workout, and it didn’t go “Maximum Overdrive” on us! Any Pax besides Quaker know what movie I just referenced?

0552 was a hard stop and the crew made their way back to the Shovel Flag and COT along the way returning their blocks. QIC put an exclamation mark on the workout with 20 Burpees. Then QIC led the Pax in a quick stretch / cool down.

Announcements: A ton of awesome stuff continually put on by the F3GS 21-22 Shared Leadership Team!  Please get on Slack and see all the amazing events happening now and on the horizon from all the Fs. Freed to Bleed and Pelicans Game (thanks for setting that up Jetah and Shoeless!) towards last week of this month to name a few.

NMMS 1: Strong work today! #Mumblechatter was definitely flowing!

NMMS 2: Today the U.S. celebrated Juneteenth memorializing the emancipation of Afro-American slaves (6/19/1865). YHC thought it fitting to celebrate with “the Axe” WOD remembering serviceman Axelson a “freedom fighter” who sacrificed his life in Operation Redwings (6/28/2005). Check out his bio.

Honor to Q!
