Burpee Fieldtrip

Burpee Fieldtrip

Workout Date:

06/19/2021

QIC:

Quaker

PAX:

Rousey, King James (2.0), Rubber, ER Sizzle, Hottub, Jedah, Quaker (QIC)

The Thang:

AO: BombSquad

Conditions: 72 degrees, humid

Earlier this week YHC had the pleasure of taking the Q over for Hottub who was not feeling well. He called it “The Crud”.  By Friday “The Crud” had another victim, none other than today’s designated Q, Hamburglar. “The Crud” was so intense that Hamburglar (who never back down) had to tap out this morning and texted YHC to cover. No problem.

On Monday’s beatdown we ventured out of the AO and headed north into Avalon to discover what lies beyond the BombSquad horizon, so today, I figured we could take a field trip in the opposite direction and discover something new in The Cloisters to the south. We had 6 Pax & one 2.0 post this morning and by the end of the beatdown everyone was smoked & soaked #HelloHumidity. Read on to see what went down.

5:59 – One Minute Warning

6:00 – Proper Disclaimer

COP: 20 SSh IC; 20 TTT IC; 15 Windmills IC; 20 Tempo Squats IC; 22 Merkins IC; 15 Imperial Walkers IC; 15 Hillbillies IC; 20 LBAC IC; 20 LBAC in Reverse IC

The THANG:

Run Burpee Run

We ran around the AO, then south on the run path that parallels Carolina Forest Blvd, then onto the run path that encircles the Cloister Apartments. Then across the field where the Shovel Flag is planted, then on more loop around the AO & finished at the back corner of the Shovel Flag lot next to the Coupon Pile. Approximately every 176 yds (1 mile = 1,760 yds. We ran 2 miles. We stopped 20 times . . .do the math) we circled up for escalator burpees.

Stop #1- we did 1 Burpee; Stop #2 – did 2 Burpees; Stop #3 – we did 3 Burpees; etc., etc. up to Stop #10 – we did 10 Burpees; at Stop #11 – we did 9 Burpees as we went back down the escalator; etc., etc. until Stop #19 – we did 1 Burpee. At this point YHC thought we were at 90 Burpees so we did 10 additional burpees to reach 100 Burpees for the day. (We actually did 110 burpees – do the math)

Pax mosey’d over to the Coupon Pile and each grabbed a Cinder Block and Rifle Carried it back to the Shovel Flag.

Block Party

We circled up and did the following exercise:

20 Overhead Presses

20 Curls

20 Block Swings

10 Bent Over Rows

15 Triceps Extensions

15 Lateral Raises

(Caveat: If any Pax put his cinder block down, all Pax would need to do 5 Penalty Burpees. If any Pax put his block down a second time we would do 10 penalty burpees (YHC thought for sure someone would put his block down just for fun, but lo & behold none of our blocks touched the ground))

At this point all Pax were instructed to put their blocks down (no penalty) . . . and a well deserved 10 Count was given.

20 Derkins

20 BBS

20 Flutterkicks while holding the block

20 Single Leg Lunges (10 each side) (suggested by Rubber)

15 American Hammers while balancing on the Block

20 Staggered Merkins (10 with left hand on the block, 10 with right hand on the block)

5 Blockees (Requested by Hottub)

10 Hello Dollies while holding block over head only with our palms (Thanks Rubber for this suggestion)

Rifle Carry the Blocks back to the Coupon Pile.

5:55 – Circle up at Shovel Flag for 5 minutes of Stretching (Beefsteak would be proud)

6:00 – Time Called

Count-o-Rama = 7

Name-o-Rama

Announcements: Spartan Race (6.27.2021); Freed to Bleed (7.16.2021); The Sasquatch (7.31.2021)

Prayers: Sunshine (back injury); Hamburglar (the crud); Tiny Dancer & his family (father’s passing) . . . Hottub prayed us out.

Moleskin: Great push by everyone this morning. Judging by the sweat angles left on the parking lot, we left at least 1% of our body weight at the AO while getting at least 1% better.
